A message from the Chief:

Welcome to the official site for the Avoca Volunteer Fire Department. For over 55 years, we have been professionally staffed by volunteers, providing an outstanding level of fire protection to both the citizens of our coverage district and the citizens of Sullivan County, Tennessee. Since it's inception in 1959, the AVFD has constantly aimed to be an outstanding example to those within the fire service by always operating with fiscally sound, morally ethical, and community centered practices. These practices, along with the outstanding support from both the Community and County Government, has allowed us to not only operate, but thrive and equip our firefighters with the newest technology and equipment available. None of what we have would be possible without the enormous support that we receive from the community and the hard work of all of our members.  As we move into the future, our Department is focused on maintaining and improving our operations, educating the community through fire prevention operations, and working to develop best practices that meet and exceed current standards.
